A BLUEPRINT FOR OUR

LPEA FUTURE

Cleaner, cheaper, more local power for LPEA families.

Together, we’re writing the blueprint for a cleaner, cheaper, more local energy future - creating local jobs and opportunity while reducing our dependence on far away polluting sources.

Getting that blueprint and that balance right is going to require deep technical expertise and local leadership that can build big coalitions.

I'm Ted Compton, a mechanical engineer by trade and a proud son of four generations of Durango trailblazers. I'd be honored to serve as your next District 3 partner as we write the blueprint for our future.

A LOCAL ENGINEER

FOR LPEA FAMILIES

I grew up in Durango on a cattle ranch and graduated from DHS as valedictorian in 1988.  After earning a pair of engineering degrees from Stanford University, I came home to Durango to work, build our local infrastructure, raise a family, and give back.

With my daughter grown, local service has become a passion of mine. For the past decade, I've had the chance to build big local infrastructure projects, develop local broadband with the FastTrack Communications board, create community solutions with the La Plata Open Space Conservancy, and work with Colorado’s Advanced Industry Grants program, bringing over $2M in new investment to our region for small businesses and new technology jobs.

Our small town way of life means the world to me and I believe that the future of LPEA runs through more main street conversations - from the grocery store to a drink at a local pub. We're a diverse community and I'll be doing my part to create conversations that respect all our views and bring folks together to carry this work forward.

A VISION

FOR LPEA

LPEA customers want an electric co-op that keeps rates low, protects a reliable and stable grid supply, and creates local opportunity with smart high-return investments in local jobs and advanced energy technologies.

The journey to these goals is, at its heart, a technical one. I'll be a problem-solver on the Board who helps our communities tackle the nuts and bolts of getting this right:

  • Budget discipline and accountability for ratepayers;

  • Conversations that lift the veil on the deeply technical questions LPEA confronts - and how we can tackle them in common sense ways;

  • Options to grow good-paying local jobs in skilled trades, STEM careers, and the energy technologies of the future;

  • Solutions for grid stability that can carry us through harsh winters and summer wildfires;

  • Programs that empower home, business, and ranch owners to unlock the savings of energy efficiency and local solar;

  • Chances for our children to get experience with the energy technologies and STEM skills of the future;

I'd be honored to work with you and all our friends and neighbors to bring this vision to life.
